10- Master your brushes
You may know your canvas, you know your brushes and you may know your paint, but without a controlled steady hand that does not slip at the edges, you can never excel at the art of painting. Painting is a fine art and every stroke of the brush defines the final picture that will come alive. Therefore, teaching your hand and developing your motor skills is of prime importance. Paint by numbers canvas is marked like a blueprint with defined boundaries and you need to fill in a numbered color to the specific section, which can be of varied shapes. Filling in given defined areas lets you practice and develop motor skills and brushwork.
11- A memento of self-achievement
Last but not the least, self-achievement will be your ultimate price. No matter if it will be a copy of an existing artwork, you will do the hard work, you will go through hours of brushwork, concentration, involvement before the picture comes to life and when you hand it on a wall it will not be just a piece of art but a memory hanging there.
So go on and get started with a Kit today. You will love it and keep following the blog for more information on different styles of painting.
Please leave comments on what more you would like to know and any other subjects that you may need information about.
- Start with a small area first: On your first day, paint a small area, and let it dry. Come back and see how the paint dried- and whether you applied too much or too little paint. Adjust accordingly.
- Work one color at a time: Midway through my canvas, I realized I get more area covered if I just pick one color and move the canvas around to fill ALL the areas of that number.
- Lay the paint thick especially light colors: If you apply a thin coat of paint for those lighter colors, you will be able to see the printed number on the canvas once it dries. So apply a thick layer of color from the get-go. Don’t worry about running out of paint, I had lots of paint left over after I was done.
- Take breaks often: Don’t try to do too much in one sitting. You might inadvertently smudge wet paint when you try to do too much at once. Not to mention strain your eyes if you are painting super small areas.
- Work with a task light: I love using this task light on my desk while painting. It helped me see those tiny printed numbers VERY easily.
- Keep your reference sheet: If your kit comes with a reference sheet, keep it safe. I thought I wouldn’t need it but ended up pulling it out a few times to check orphan areas that were missing numbers. Sometimes, you paint just a partial area, and later realize there is a blank area with no number!
- Work left to Right: If you are Right-handed: You will always need a dry area to rest your wrist while painting. So I like to work from the top left corner of an area to the bottom right corner.
- Make a habit of it: I enjoyed this canvas SO much more than I expected, mainly because I would sit and paint just 10 or 15 minutes each night and it was the perfect way for me to end the day.
Large Size Canvases
A large painting by numbers can make an impact wherever it is placed, all on its own. It will; however, require quite a bit of patience and energy to complete. The bigger the painting, the more details it has, and the more shapes you need to fill. It can take days, but will definitely be worth it.
